After what feels like an age since competitive matches, MK Irish’s first official game of the new season sees the team travel to Thame Rangers this Friday, in The FA Vase First Qualifying Round.

Terry Shrieves and his squad will be looking forward to starting the season in such fashion, with the chance to take the first step on a hopefully long, exciting cup run.

Despite the difficult circumstances, MK Irish have managed to get a more than respectable pre-season under their belts, whilst also performing well and only losing one game.

It will be important that Irish have used those games to get up to speed, as the unfamiliar opposition, Thame Rangers, who play their football in Hellenic League Division One, have already played two league games this season, losing both.

Before the 19/20 season was declared void, Thame Rangers found themselves 13th in their league, with eight wins, six draws and ten losses in 24 matches. The FA Vase presents a good chance for them to get back on track after their two losses this season and both sides will be keen to take the confidence on from a victory in Friday’s game.

For those interested in travelling to support the boys, the game kicks off at 7:45pm, and will be played at Meadow View Park, Thame, OX9 3RN.
