MK Irish progressed in The FA Vase thanks to a crushing 9-0 victory away to Holmer Green.

Goals from Andre Olukanmi, Ryan Smith, Mason Spence, George Shrieves, Callum Hirst and Mason Davis secure Irish’s biggest ever victory and set up an away fixture to Aylesbury Vale Dynamos in the next round.

Irish outclassed their opponents right from the off and started as they went on, hitting the post through Olukanmi after just a couple of minutes.

The scoring was opened after 9 minutes, George Shrieves’ ball in from the right towards Ryan Smith, bounced around in the six yard box and fell kindly for Olukanmi to smash it home.

1-0 after 9 minutes turned to 3-0 after 13 minutes as MK Irish showed their quality.

First it was a corner in from the right, bypassing by all of the Holmer Green defenders and met by a Ryan Smith diving header into the corner.

Ryan Smith then got his second to make it 3 after Clinton Zawe’s through ball saw him through on goal, calmly slotting into the far corner with his left.

Mason Spence got in on the act soon after, collecting Ty Ward’s cross on the chest and being afforded the time and space to bring it down, cut onto his right foot and fire into the bottom right corner for 4-0 after less than 25 minutes.

Mason Spence makes it 4-0

In amongst all of the Irish goals, Holmer Green’s goalkeeper was having a good game and making numerous impressive saves.

He was being somewhat let down by his defenders however.

Shrieves in particular had the better of his match up, so giving the ball away to him in their own defensive third wasn’t the best of ideas, and he promptly drove forward and drilled a shot from the edge of the area to the bottom left corner to make it 5-0.

And just before the break Spence grabbed a second, touching in at the near post from Shrieves’ cross.

6-0 at half-time after a ruthless Milton Keynes Irish performance.

It looked as if it would be the same story after the break when Callum Hirst added a 7th goal just two minutes in, touching a pass down in the area and firing into the top corner, but Irish took their foot off the gas slightly with the job comfortably done.

Number 8 came from the penalty spot through Mason Davis after Olukanmi was fouled, and the 9th was Davis again after running through and cooly slotting past the keeper.

There were numerous chances squandered for double figures but Irish had already asserted their complete dominance over their opponents.

The victory means Irish will face Aylesbury Vale Dynamos away in the next round of The FA Vase – it will be the second meeting between the two clubs this season, Irish came out 7-0 winners at home in the fixture just a couple of weeks ago.
