Milton Keynes Irish will be hoping to bounce back with a win against Biggleswade FC on Tuesday after suffering a 4-2 loss to Welwyn Garden City at Manor Fields in their opening fixture of the Southern League Division One Central.

After taking an early lead against Welwyn, Terry Shrieves described his team’s performance as “lethargic and not aggressive enough, where an eight-minute period saw the away side take a dominant 4-1 lead in the second half.

Despite JJ Meadows adding a consolation late on to make it 4-2, Shrieves was transparent in his beliefs that “you have to work hard to earn the rewards at this level,” with his side struggling to “compete” in their first taste of Step 4 football.

Biggleswade FC were more successful in their opening game of the season, where they ran out as 2-1 winners away from home against Rayners Lane, thanks to goals from Ethan Kessel and Adam Hunt.

Our Tuesday opponents have already been knocked out of the FA Cup in the extra preliminary round by Welwyn Garden City, having lost 2-0 in a replay, but the side remains undefeated in the current 2025-26 league campaign.

Biggleswade FC was formed in 2016 and has remained a constant in the Southern League Div One Central since the 2019-2020 season. Despite finishing as runners-up in the 2022-23 campaign, they fell to a 4-1 loss against Ware in the promotion playoff semi-final.

MK Irish and Biggleswade FC will face each other for the first time in their history, and both teams will be eager to get that first win against each other on Tuesday.

Joint managers, Dave Northfield and Mark Inskip, have been in charge since the club’s inception in 2016. The club was formed from Biggleswade Town’s under-18s under the same management, and they have made their way up to the Southern League Division One Central in just nine years.

Milton Keynes Irish will face off at the new rescheduled time of 7:45 pm on Tuesday, the 12th of August, against Biggleswade FC, where they will be hoping to gain their first win of the season and the club’s first ever win in Step 4.

Make sure to join us again for FA Cup action on Saturday, where the side will feature at Manor Fields against Arlesey Town in the Preliminary Round at 3 pm.
