The opening stages were evenly matched with few clear chances. Irish threatened early when Clinton Zawe won the ball inside the box and drove a low cross across the six yard area, but a defender got there first to clear for a corner.
Beaconsfield created the first real opportunity when a forward was played through on goal inside the box but, with Ladyman advancing, he dragged his shot wide of the near post.
Irish responded with a chance of their own as Owen Brooks got the better of his marker inside the area and drilled a low ball across goal, but it was cut out before reaching its target. Shrieves then delivered a corner that just evaded Ryan Smith at the far post.
Both sides continued to probe. A shot from the edge of the box was comfortably held by Ladyman, while at the other end Shrieves played Brooks through on goal, but his effort drifted wide with only the keeper to beat.
The breakthrough came on 39 minutes. A soft challenge inside the box led to a debatable penalty, which the visitors converted with a low finish past Ladyman.
Irish were nearly caught out again shortly afterwards when a forward worked space inside the area and got a shot away from an angle, but Zawe was alert to clear off the line. Ladyman was also called into action to make a save late in the half as Irish went into the break trailing.
Half Time: MK Irish 0–1 Beaconsfield Town
Irish started the second half with intent. A dangerous cross into the six yard box was met by a forward under pressure, but the effort lacked power and was gathered by Ladyman.
There were calls for a penalty when Shrieves went down inside the area, but nothing was given. Moments later, Brooks showed good control and pace down the right before delivering a low cross, but Shrieves was unable to apply the finish.
Irish continued to push. Hayworth fired over from the edge of the box after a short corner routine, while a deep free kick caused problems before being blocked inside the area.
The equaliser arrived on 70 minutes. A free kick into the box was helped on and, following a soft challenge inside the area, the referee awarded a second penalty of the afternoon. JJ Meadows stepped up and calmly converted, sending the keeper the wrong way to bring Irish level.
Irish arguably looked the more likely to go on and win it. A move involving Brooks and Nathan Smith ended with Ryan Smith heading goalwards, only to see his effort come back off the base of the post.
However, the visitors regained the lead ten minutes from time. A ball into the box from the right was squared across goal and finished first time from close range, the effort going in off the underside of the bar.
Irish pushed for a late equaliser. A long range effort was struck towards goal but may have been blocked inside the area before the follow-up was also stopped, while in the final moments Brooks created another opening on the right before Ryan Smith set up Marsh-Brown, whose effort flew just over the bar.
